If you want the taste of Indian street food within the confines of a restaurant, this place is the right one. The feel inside is very much like that of a very busy Indian restaurant in busy towns in India. Very casual ambiance. It’s order up front, pay, and pick up when ready. Fully self serve. There’s an array of North and South Indian items along with Indo-Chinese fusion offerings. Portions are large and price is very reasonable.

I am surprised with the reviews, but I thought this place was spot on, especially with their Mutton Juicy Mandi. The Mandi was truly amazing and the best we have had so far.

Dosa was a little thick, but the rest of the food was spot on, and I will go back again for sure. Medu Vada and Puff were exceptional, too. The filter coffee was also delicious.

Don't let reviews fool you as I think they deserve a try with the plenty amount of options they have.

If you’re considering dining at Desi District at 6451 Riverside Dr #100, Irving, TX 75039, save your time and money.

While the interior is impressive, the food is consistently disappointing—like Texas weather: occasionally good but mostly terrible. The pricing is absurd for the quality they provide. Think roadside cart quality at upscale restaurant prices.

Not kid-friendly either, with no special menu for kids.

Here’s what I ordered:
1. Chicken Hyderabadi Biryani: For $18, I got rice with two tiny chicken pieces. Taste was nowhere close to authentic Hyderabadi biryani. 2/10.
2. Goat Meat Mandi: For over $20, I got a big bone with hardly any meat, and what little meat there was, felt like chewing rubber. 1/10.
3. Malai Bun: Growing up in Mumbai, I know how this dish should taste, and this wasn’t it. It was just sweetened condensed milk stuffed into bread with an overload of sugar. Zero malai, zero authenticity. 0/10.

After-sale experience: When I complained, the staff was dismissive. They reluctantly replaced the biryani but served the same poor-quality dish. No smiles, no apologies—just weird looks.

My opinion: This place is only good for tea or fried snacks if you’re desperate for a crowded Indian café vibe. Otherwise, skip it. Overpriced food, indifferent staff, and poor service. Management needs to learn the standards of quality and customer service in the U.S. A visit from the health department wouldn’t hurt either.

Big NO for food.

Desi District - Irving, Dallas:

I recently visited Dallas for the first time, and many people suggested I try Desi District in Irving for their famous mandi. I went there with my friends, and we ordered the Mutton Juicy Mandi.

It was absolutely delicious! The mutton pieces were so tender and flavorful, and the juicy gravy mixed with the rice made it even better. Every bite was so good, and we really enjoyed the meal.

If you’re looking for great mandi in Dallas, I highly recommend Desi District. You won’t be disappointed!

Horrible wait time for fried rice or any other order to nake food
Fried rice is made with basmathi rice.. yucky
Mandi is good
Pretty average.
Tea is also self service useless to just identify which one is the tea among multiple filters

Whenever you visit Desi District for snacks or breakfast items that come with peanut chutney, be sure to check the chutney before eating. We found a plastic piece in ours. Stay cautious everyone

I visited this location hoping to get the curry combo available at another branch, but they didn’t have it. Instead, I purchased two 16-ounce vegetarian curries and a vegetarian appetizer. Unfortunately, they forgot to include the appetizer, so I had to drive back to pick it up. Upon checking the curries, I realized they had given me two 8-ounce containers—one with rice and the other with curry—rather than the 16 ounces of curry I was expecting. When I called them, they said they would provide the curry on my next visit.

I visited Desi District for a dine-in experience and overall, I had a positive time with a few minor areas for improvement.
• Food (4/5): The food was flavorful and well-prepared. The dishes had a good balance of spices and seasoning, capturing the essence of authentic Indian cuisine. However, a few items could have been improved slightly in texture or presentation to make the experience even better.
• Service (4/5): The service was efficient and the staff were courteous. I appreciated their attentiveness, though there were small delays during busy periods. Overall, the team made a good effort to ensure our needs were met.
• Atmosphere (3/5): The ambiance was pleasant but nothing extraordinary. The dining area was clean and functional, but I felt it lacked a unique or inviting vibe that could make it stand out.

Overall: I would recommend Desi District for anyone seeking quality food and decent service. With a bit more attention to the atmosphere, this place could become a true standout. For now, it’s a solid option for a casual meal.
